Full-color illustrations of butterflies and plants were inspired by Edward Donovan's The Natural History of the Insects of China and The Natural History of the Insects of India, published in London by R. Havell and H.G. Bohn, 1838 and now at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
The sturdy decorative box holds cards and envelopes neatly, and when the cards have been sent, it's great for storing all sorts of little things--from extra buttons to pearls. As a bonus, a reproduction of the title page of the China volume decorates the inside lid of the keepsake box.
