Everyone loves this Leonardo da Vinci painting of the angel Uriel, a detail from the famous "The Virgin of the Rocks" oil on panel painting now in the National Gallery, London. It was painted c. 1508, and an earlier version is in the Louvre.
The subject of the painting is the meeting of the infant Jesus and St. John, who is in the care of our angel. Our designers have applied a swirled background "frame" to the image.
