Galison's Monet Waterlilies Prose Journal reproduces a detail from one of Monet's most delicate paintings: the oil on canvas Waterlilies in the National Museum and Gallery of Wales, Cardiff. Painted painted in 1908, this Waterlilies was purchased by Gwendoline Davis in Paris in 1913, and she bequeathed it to the museum in 1952.
Our journal picks up the lavendar of some of the waterlily blossoms to frame the white pages with either lavendar ruled lines on 140 of them or continental-style graph paper for the other 40. Corners are rounded, and the wire binding is lavendar to match the color of some highlights in the painting.
