Galison's Nature's Cabinet Tableaux de Fleurs holds twenty cards, 5 each of 4 images based on 19th century images from the collection of the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. The oxalis, anemone, and dahlia are based on illustrations by Mills for Benjamin Maund's The Botanic Garden, published in London 1825-1851.
Other illustrations are based on Pierre Jean Francois Turpin's illustrations for Jean Marie Poiret's Lecons de Flore and from William Jowit Titford's Sketches Towards a Hortus Botanicus Americanus, published in London in 1811.
