Renoir
French painter Pierre Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) became an apprentice porcelain painter at age 13. He first exhibited his paintings in Paris in 1864, but only became widely recognized in 1874 at the first Impressionist exhibition. Even though he was crippled by rheumatism in the 1890s, he continued to paint by using a brush strapped to his arm. While most Impressionists were known for landscapes, Renoir was famous for still lifes and portraits.
Galison has created a number of fine art gifts featuring the works of Renoir, including notebooks, journals and even
note cards
based on his famous
