Mini Jigsaw Puzzles - Small Format Puzzles Under 130 Pieces

This collection groups together all of our small-format puzzle products. The piece counts range from about 60 to 130 pieces depending on the format, and finished sizes are compact enough to assemble on a side table, desk, or tray. Most take 30 minutes to an hour.

The collection is built around several distinct mini puzzle formats, each designed for a different use case. Some are standalone shaped puzzles. Others are greeting cards with a puzzle tucked inside. A few are packaged in matchboxes or tins for portability. And the holiday sets bundle multiple mini puzzles into countdown calendars and multi-day sets.

Mini Shaped Puzzles (100 Pieces)

Mini shaped puzzles are one of the two largest categories here. Each one is 100 pieces with an irregular outline that follows the image - a cupcake, a roller skate, a typewriter, a U.S. state, a banana, a moon.

The Wendy Gold state series makes up a significant portion of the shaped minis. These puzzles cut the finished image into the outline of a U.S. state (California, Texas, New York, Florida, Colorado, Hawaii, and others), with artwork depicting that state's flowers, landmarks, or natural features.

Other shaped minis feature pop culture references, humor-driven designs by Brass Monkey, Andy Warhol icons, holiday themes, and standalone illustrated designs.

Greeting Card Puzzles

Greeting card puzzles are the other large category in this collection. Each one is a small puzzle (typically 60 pieces) that comes inside a greeting card with an envelope. You send it like a card, and the recipient assembles the puzzle.

The designs cover a range of occasions:

  • Birthday and celebration: Confetti cakes, floral bouquets, good luck charms
  • Holidays: Christmas scenes, Hanukkah, Halloween, Easter
  • Everyday: Thinking of you, flowers, houseplants, love and friendship
  • Artist designs: Joy Laforme, Frank Lloyd Wright, Andy Warhol, and Michael Storrings all have greeting card puzzle designs

These are one of the most practical gift items we make. They cost less than most puzzles, they're flat enough to mail in a standard envelope, and they give the recipient a small activity alongside the greeting.

Matchbox Puzzles (128 Pieces)

Matchbox puzzles are 128 pieces packaged in a small box styled to look like a vintage matchbox. The compact packaging makes them easy to toss in a bag, give as a small gift, or keep in a desk drawer for a quick break. The finished puzzle is small enough to assemble on a book or laptop-sized surface.

Puzzle Ornaments (130 Pieces)

Puzzle ornaments come in a round tin and assemble into a circular image that can be hung on a Christmas tree. They're 130 pieces and take about an hour. The seasonal designs make them a holiday-specific item, but they're reusable year to year if you keep the pieces together.

Holiday Countdown Sets and Multi-Puzzle Sets

These sets package multiple mini puzzles into a single box, designed to be opened one per day or one per session. The holiday countdown sets work like an advent calendar - you open a new mini puzzle each day during the lead-up to Christmas. The collection includes both 12-day countdowns and other multi-day formats.

We also carry non-holiday multi-puzzle sets. A mindfulness-themed set includes seven puzzles (one per day of the week), and a Frank Lloyd Wright set bundles multiple mini puzzles featuring different Wright designs.

How Long Does a Mini Puzzle Take?

Most mini puzzles in this collection take 20-60 minutes depending on the piece count and image complexity:

  • Greeting card puzzles (~60 pieces): 15-30 minutes
  • 100-piece shaped minis: 30-45 minutes
  • 128-piece matchbox puzzles: 30-60 minutes
  • 130-piece puzzle ornaments: 45-60 minutes

This makes them a good fit for a lunch break, a short evening wind-down, or a quick activity at a gathering.

Who Are Mini Puzzles For?

Mini puzzles work across a wider audience than our standard-size puzzles. They're accessible enough for older kids (ages 8+), quick enough for adults who don't have time for a 1000-piece project, and small enough to bring along when traveling. The greeting card puzzles and shaped minis also work well as low-cost gifts, party favors, stocking stuffers, and desk toys.

If you're looking for puzzles in this piece count range but in a standard rectangular format, our 100-piece puzzles collection has additional options.
