Playing Cards

Artist-Designed Playing Card Sets

Every deck in this collection features artwork from a named artist or licensed brand. The card backs, face cards, and packaging all carry the artist's visual style, which means the decks look distinct from each other and from anything you'd pick up at a generic retailer.

Most sets include two full standard decks housed together in a keepsake box. The boxes vary in style - some use a drawer design that slides open, others have magnetic closures, and a few use a book-box format. All of them are built to be displayed on a shelf or coffee table when the cards aren't in use.

What Artists and Brands Are Featured?

The collection spans a wide range of visual styles. You'll find architectural pattern work, bold pop art, botanical illustration, historical textile prints, floral photography, and illustrated animal portraits.

• Frank Lloyd Wright: Geometric and organic patterns inspired by Wright's architectural designs, in a drawer-style keepsake box
• Liberty London: Signature fabric prints adapted for playing cards, with multiple sets covering different Liberty pattern families
• Andy Warhol: Pop art imagery on a single-deck format
• William Morris: Arts and Crafts movement patterns and textile designs
• Joy Laforme: Layered botanical and floral illustrations
• Michael Storrings: Seasonal cityscape and landscape artwork

Other sets feature zodiac and floral pairings, illustrated dog portraits, houseplant artwork, and San Francisco-themed designs.

Deck Formats and What's Included

Most products in this collection are two-deck sets with a keepsake box. A few products differ from that standard format:

• Single-deck sets include one standard 52-card deck plus jokers. The Warhol and Liberty Archive sets use this format.
• Game sets bundle two decks with extras like a scorepad, pencil, and instruction booklet covering classic card games. These are a good option if you want a ready-to-play gift that includes game rules.
• Giant playing cards are oversized novelty cards designed by Brass Monkey. These are physically larger than standard cards and are meant more for humor and party settings than serious gameplay.

All standard decks in this collection use traditional suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades) and follow the 52-card-plus-jokers format. They work for any card game that uses a standard deck.

Packaging and Keepsake Boxes

The packaging is a real differentiator for these sets. Drawer boxes slide open to reveal the decks inside. Magnetic book boxes open like a book cover and snap shut with a magnetic closure. Both formats protect the cards and look good sitting out.

The box artwork matches or complements the card designs, so the closed box works as a standalone decorative object. This is one reason these sets work well as gifts - the presentation is finished before you wrap it.

Are These Cards Playable or Just Decorative?

Both. The cards are standard playing card size and weight, printed on coated card stock. Suits and values are clearly printed and easy to read across a table during gameplay. They shuffle and handle like regular playing cards.

The difference is the visual treatment. Standard cards use minimal graphics on the face cards and blank backs. Our decks print full artwork on the backs and often redesign the face card illustrations to match the artist's style. The result is a deck that functions identically to any standard deck but looks noticeably different in play.

Playing Cards as Gifts

Playing card sets are one of the easiest gifts in our catalog to match to a recipient. If you know someone likes dogs, architecture, plants, pop art, astrology, or a specific artist, there's likely a deck here that fits. The keepsake box packaging gives the gift a finished, presentable look without extra wrapping.

The game sets that include a scorepad and instruction booklet are especially practical as gifts because they're complete - the recipient can open the box and start playing immediately without needing anything else.
